What Every Business Can Learn From Apple
I recently applied for an Apple Card. I mean, I own a million other Apple products – why not their credit card? The entire experience, from applying to receiving my physical card in the mail was amazingly easy. I’m a busy business owner and mom of two – I don’t have the time or patience to sit down and jump through lots of hoops to apply for a credit card. So having an easy process was a huge win in my book. I was immediately approved and had instant access to a digital version of my Apple Card. It’s a little scary how easy it was to have access to thousands of dollars upon a moment’s notice.
I got a notification a day later about my physical card being delivered the following day. Anyone who’s applied for a card knows how rare it is to actually receive your card within ONE business day. That’s insanely fast! Sure enough, my Apple Card was delivered on time. It came in a priority FedEx envelope. I opened it and saw this sturdy cardboard box pictured below. When I opened that, I found the white package with my card enclosed.
At this point, I am feeling like some VIP millionnaire. I mean, the amount of time and money that went into this packaging wasn’t lost on me. And I hadn’t even seen the card yet! The card itself is titanium. I feel like I’m part of some exclusive club when I pull it out to pay. I think my favorite part of this whole thing was how easy it was to activate my card. I just held my phone close to the packaging and voila! Instant activation. Again – I don’t have the time to sit on the phone and plug in some 16 digit card number only to get a digit wrong to activate my card.
Apple wins at Client Experience in my book. They invest the time and effort into their process to make it easy, luxurious, and fun to get one of their products. Why do I share all of this? Because I feel like it’s worth noting that they are playing – and WINNING – at the client experience game. I recently wrote a post about the 5 pillars of the best client experience: Simple ✔️ Prompt ✔️Anticipate their customer’s needs ✔️ Over-Communicate ✔️ Over-Deliver ✔️
Apple’s client experience is part of what will make me an Apple fan forever. It’s what will make me tell my friends about how amazing the experience was. It’s what will make me write a blog post about my experience! Do you see where I’m going with this? Your client experience is what helps you STAND OUT from your competition. I’ve gotten credit cards before. The money spends the same. But none of them were as easy and luxurious as my Apple Card.
